WIP-Finishing up my projects.

This week finds me finishing up the two quilts started last week

The first one is the L'il Rascals Baby quilt that was set up on my wall. I got it all sewn together, borders on and layered this past weekend. I spent some time doing line quilting, but  am really pleased with the finished look. Today I put the binding on and it should be ready to list in my shop shortly.

The second one is my lap quilt in reproduction fabrics that I also added borders to and layered this past weekend. I have started quilting that with line quilting in1/4 inch lines inside the blocks. This one should be ready to go into my shop over the weekend.

Next on my drawing board is a project I will be doing for Worldwide Quilting Day which is March 16th.

Work In Progress Wednesday

Usually Wednesdays find me working but today I have the day off, so I decided to join the Quiltsy WIP Wednesdays. Currently I am working on two (yes, two) new quilts for my shop.

The first is a scrappy reproduction quilt that I am in the process of sewing the rows together. Have I ever mentioned that I love Reproduction Fabrics?

The little pieces of paper pinned to the beginning of each row is my way of keeping the rows in the same order as the were when the quilt was laid out on my wall. The papers have written on them Row 1, Row 2, Row 3, etc.

My second quilt I am working on is a L'il Rascals Baby quilt. This line of fabric in now retired but I still have a lot of searches to my shop looking for a quilt made from this line. I had the foresight to purchase several charm packs before it was all gone. I have it all set up on my design wall and ready to sew the top together. It should be finished within a week and ready to list in my shop.

Day Off?

What do you do when you have an unscheduled day off? I found out this morning that I didn't have to go into work so this is what I decided to do:

I have been dying to start this quilt made with Bali Pomegranate Batiks. The colors are so pretty and could even work well as a Christmas quilt. Now that it is all set on my wall, I can start working on getting blocks sewn together. Hoping to have it finished in the next couple of days.

Ready to Quilt!

Did you ever have something that just grabbed you and you were so excited about it that you just had to go with it? That is what happened the other day. I saw a fabric panel while going through my fabric and immediately knew what I wanted to do with it. I posted about it last week-Remember the red and green Christmas quilt I had up on my wall playing with the design?

Well...this is it now:

Every thing came together so beautifully. The fabrics worked great together and the design made it go fast. Now I have to get it quilted and bound, then listed in my shop: PatsPassionQuilteds on Etsy

New Works in Progress

Today I decided to start a new project for my Etsy shop. I realized I didn't have very much in the way of Christmas items and wanted to make something blue so I pulled out a terrific Christmas print of blue and green Christmas bulbs and went to work on a set of place mats. I love the touch of silver in the prints.

Of course, while I was looking for the blue fabric on my shelf of Christmas fabrics I ran across an adorable Christmas panel and an idea popped into my head for a design for a new Christmas quilt so I HAD to put it up on my wall to see if the idea I had in my mind would work or not. It is just the beginning, but I think it will look great.

Just finishin up the quilting on this one

PatsPassionQuilteds

I have finally finished up several custom orders so I have had the time to start working on things for my shop-

This is my first Christmas quilt I am making this year and I have been working on the detail quilting. I hope to have it ready to list on Friday. I found these beautiful prints in a Local Quilt Shop over the summer, immediately fell in love with them and new I had to make a quilt with them.. I have made a couple of table runners from them and finally came up with the design I wanted for the quilt.

Custom Work for Noelle

This time around I worked on a different kind of Custom Order. My customer started to make a quilt in the color scheme that matched her home. The quilt was a very pretty quilt with big blocks and large floral and geometric prints. After she started making it, she had a baby girl and decided that she wanted to have the quilt to give to her daughter. She decided to add some blocks to the quilt that had pinks in them. She started to have a little difficulty at that point and when she tried to quilt it, she ran into more problems. She decided that rather than tryng to continue any further, it would be best to have someone who had more experience take over the job of finishing her quilt. This is where I come in. I took out the quilting she had done so I had just the top to work with. I resewed some of the blocks that needed a little "help" and then added more pink fabric blocks. I relayerd the top, batting and backing together and quilted it, then sewed the binding on to finish it. The quilt is now back to its home.

This was interesting and fun work for me this time. Rather than going from start to finish, I jumped in in the middle so it became a learning experience as well.
